gandhi vs others

We had a very passionate discussion the other day(due to katrina power was gone for the whole night)on gandhi and his principles and the others(which include bagath singh, subhas chandra bose etc...). One group was on gandhian side and the other was on the side of others. But when the discussion was going very intense I felt neither of the groups had enough knowledge on either of the ways freedom struggle was done. I thought why not put it in my blog so that good sources might be suggested to read on about the gandhian and other ways of freedom struggle. Do pour in your thoughts and sources for more knowledge(preferabbly books and not the net).

The Alchemist-By Paulo coelho

Just completed reading this book. Quite a few frnds had recommended to read this book. The book had some good message. But I somehow felt tht it could have given much more punch for the message it was trying to convey than it actually had delivered.
That said, the book is a good reading and certainly has a sweet message to unfold. The "Personal Lengend" funda is very much close to wht many ppl might be feeling but the same fear which the author says hinders many to realize the same. Also I personally experienced the Beginner's luck which the author descirbes and the difficult tests in the very end.
Also I felt, does the author wants to convey two messages at a time when the boy realizes that the treasure is in back home...one being tht the treasure is in his own courtyard(may be in terms of knowing thy self within than exploring the world outside), and secondly that the treasure is yours once all the hardship is endured....not to mention any of the ways does have a moral in it.
On the whole I felt it a good book to read which gives a message for all.

MS in US---$ dreamzzzz

Each year thousands of students come to US universities from India and China.
Due to the visa problems that the chinese people have, generally they come with a jumbo plan of completing their Phd(of course they are either married or come here and do love marriage here in US itself) and even if possible post-doc before going back to their home country(assuming that they do go back). This part of chinese story was actually narrated by one of my chinese students. So as most of the chinese students come to US with an I20 of Phd, they mostly get financial assistance, as the US supports any kind of reserach and are ready to literally go to any extent to have the Phd guys in their kitty. So far so good...ok good for chinese students....

PS1:This is how I see the chinese student's situation to be in general and pardon me if I am gravely wrong which I dont think I am.

Now, being an Indian I suppose I can give a much better picture of an Indian student's mindset who come to USA, and their travails here. Mostly Indians come to US with dollars in mind. They use the opportunity to come to US to make fast money and go back home and enjoy that hard(eerrr...not sure...) earned money. But here there a few exceptions too who have just the highly ranked US univs in mind and hope to make it as big as a nobel laureaute(pardon me if any spelling mistake) and whose main aim is to satisfy their ego by publishing as many papers as they can....
Ok taking the democractic notion into consideration, I shall go ahead and elaboarte more on the former students situation(Lets call him Dollar Guy=DG actaully here Guy can be taken in literal sense as very low percentage of female graduates come here ...again this is a debatable point or say publishable article why not girls??). DG joins enggg (in most of the cases ....again this is a point which I hope to publish in my later articles..why Enggg?), . In 3rd year or so takes hold of barrons book as a child holds of ABC's book. writes the GRE exam and applies in mostly a random way to US univs.completes his Enngineering, goes to visa interview and even though he has no interest in a Masters in Science lands in USA due to the pressure from society or from within himself may be to earn money in a FF mode. Ok so he just shuts his brain off and so does his parents who are ready to shell off lacs now thru loans for a golden future.
By this time the DG guy has only one thing in mind to do MS and earn Bucks, bcoz he thinks thts how his life would be very sweet later. And may be his latent talent is burried at this point only and creativity kicked off. The moment he lands in USA he might feel very ecstatic but in a day or two he finds no hidden pleasures here either which he thinks when he was back in India. He starts to feel homesick though he might have gud circle of desis around. He starts questioning his decision. He starts to kick his own ass.
And to make the situation worse, he came for MS and US univs dont give them that royal treatment that a Phd guy gets and so he has to struggle for tht assistanship to clear the loan that he has taken and also not to borrow another sem's loan. He prints a dozen of resume and goes to alllllll depts, even depts which are in no way related to his course of study. He feels visceral abt this when he returns empty hand by evening. He struggles like this and finally makes it into some position or may be not!!!. But he finally does his MS may be on a credit frm citibank. By now he feels US is no fancy a place to be in, and tht India was far far gud(after all home is home dudes!!!). But wht to do he has loans back home to clear and also he started off frm India to return as a rich man. So again something comes in between and he joins a consultant and gets a Job. And as he gets job parents back home might feel its time to get my son married. And may be this poor DG might even end up marrying hoping for a better life....dudes marriage...ooops the story doesnt get any better i suppose. And now its time for parents to C USA. After all they are his parents and he wants to please his dear parents.Parents come but they dont like the atmosphere here either feel it gud to stay in India and return back. Jr DG might be procreated in the mean time....and somewhere by this time the couple feel much easy to stay here only then to go to India and make their parents visit them to USA regularly....

PS2:
But guys doesnt somewhere this DG miss a lots of things????????back at home....
He knew by the end of MS tht home is home but still he acts like a hypocrite to himself and doesnt live the life he wants to ....the joyous life... the life with parents, relatives and of course dearest frnds.
And he might be feeling each day that his decision is not the one he wanted to take....
DG might be thinking of a different story altogether back in India.....
Is it worth all this????
Is MS in US a big trap after all??
So do u wanna be this DG?
I hope not.

PS3:This I suppose is the story of many DG's but listen to ur hearts and take the right decision...after all life is a life to be LIVED and not whiled away.

clean the filth!!!

hey this is a revelation of some sorts if this is what actually my frnd told. This is the link to that: http://home.iitk.ac.in/student/grahul/BM.html

i was mentioning that one person was not snoring in our apt, but here i am listening to his snores...ok so all normal ppl snore. or ....errr.....take it easy
I need to improve upon my writing skills a lot and for tht i have to read a lot of stuff....but here i am stuck with these sucking ****ing exams....hope to read a lot of quality novels after my summer courses end...

this summer sem was cool....went to india b4 the summer school then to atlanta in b/w and saw many movies. plan to graduate by december ...hope everything goes well till then and after tht too...

Insomnia.

slept some 1.5 hrs back, but suddenly woke up to some sound and here I am back onto my blog due to sleeplessness. Was struggling to go back to sleep after tht sound for 20 mins couldnt n hence decided to give up on sleep.
But think if no sleep then mind will just go zany and U cant do any work. This mortal body needs some sleep daily until it gets immortal :-)
How much of sleep is required for a human body. It depends may be on the depth of the sleep. I heard some gr8 ppl had just 2 hrs of sleep in 24hrs...thts awesome....imagine the level of serenity they have in their minds to be able to focus on just the work that is on hand and nothing else...
evrybeing i suppose has tht ability to focus....it upgrades or degrades depending upon the conditioning to it.
Back in India 6 hrs of sleep used to suffice but here i need good 8hrs to rejuvenate the next norning....donno why exactly is tht?

Reliable Rahul .

In both the matches of Indian Oil cup in Sri-lanka, Dravid was the lone performer, unbeaten with half centuries in both the matches. That shows his stamina in both forms of the game. He actaully did more than a good job to do so especially being a captain, given the track record of our former captains who somehow loose the form once they take on captaincy of the team. And personally I feel dravid is much more a team man for his selfless performances and actually when the team is in need. So he can set a very good example for the team....leading from the front.
